Private Transport Private vehicle + dedicated driver-guide. Flexible pace — you choose and book your preferred desert camps and hotels.

This private 2-day tour is the shortest way to reach the desert from Marrakech and back. You cross the High Atlas over the Tizi n'Tichka pass, explore the UNESCO-listed Ksar of Ait Benhaddou, and follow the palm groves of the Draa Valley south to Zagora, arriving in time for sunset in the dunes. You spend the night near Zagora at the accommodation of your choice (not included).

The next morning your driver-guide picks you up and you return north through the Draa Valley, visit the Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate and cross the mountains back to Marrakech by early evening.

Zagora is a stony desert with smaller dunes, not the giant dunes of Merzouga.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Zagora from Marrakech?

About 360 km, roughly 6–7 hours via Tizi n'Tichka and Ouarzazate. With stops, each day involves around 7 hours on the road.

Is Zagora a sand desert or a rocky desert?

Mainly flat, stony desert (hamada) with smaller dunes. It is quieter than Merzouga, which has the tall dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Do your tour rates include hotel or desert camp bookings?

No. Morocco Trip Lines operates strictly on a private transport-only model: our tour rates cover your private licensed vehicle, fuel, highway tolls, and dedicated professional driver-guide. You book your own nights (hotels, riads, and desert camps) directly with properties that match your budget and taste, and your driver-guide drops you off at your accommodation each evening and picks you up the next morning. If you need recommendations for vetted riads or desert camps, we are happy to share our favorites!

Is the tour suitable for families?

Yes. Child seats can be provided, and families with young children travel with us regularly.

Can this be extended to include Merzouga?

Yes. With one extra day, go to Merzouga instead of Zagora on our 3-day tour. With two extra days, keep this route and cross the Anti-Atlas to Merzouga on our 4-day tour.

What should I pack?

Warm layers for the evening, a torch, toiletries, a scarf and a power bank in a small overnight bag.

When is the best time for this tour?

Spring and autumn. Summer afternoons in Zagora can exceed 40°C, and winter brings clear skies but cold nights.

What time do we leave and return?

Pickup is around 7:30, and you are back in Marrakech between 17:00 and 18:00 on Day 2. Times can be adjusted.

How do I choose a desert camp that suits my budget?

Morocco Trip Lines operates strictly on a private transport-only model: we provide your private air-conditioned vehicle, fuel, highway tolls, and dedicated driver-guide, giving you complete freedom to choose camps that suit your personal budget with zero middleman markups. Options range from authentic standard desert bivouacs to comfort and luxury desert camps featuring private en-suite flush bathrooms and hot showers. You can book directly on Booking.com, Airbnb, or directly with the camp. We are always happy to share our curated list of trusted, clean, and welcoming camps in Merzouga and Zagora, and your driver-guide coordinates seamless dune transfers and luggage handling directly with your camp.

I had the chance to discover beautiful landscapes and authentic places thanks to Saida Tours. The organization was impeccable from start to finish: punctuality, comfort, and above all a warm and passionate team. The guide was not only professional but also very attentive, enthusiastically sharing the local history and culture. An experience that is both rewarding and human. I highly recommend to all those who want to live a real moment of discovery 👍🏻
